MECCANOLAND COLLECTION
The Meccanoland Collection is a private Meccano collection and represents the result of collecting Meccano for more than 30 years. The Meccanoland collection is given on loan to the Toy Gallery in Brummen in The Netherlands. The Toy Gallery museum is a Foundation and is one of the official registered Toy museums in the Netherlands.
The Toy museum was started with the help of Collectors and volunteers in "Het Oude Ambachten Museum" in Terschuur showing their collection of toys. In 2001 a new location was found in The Gallery a well known classic car shop in Brummen. The Meccanoland section in the Toy Gallery was completely designed and built by Henk Brouwer, who spent over 3 months of his time to build the Meccano Shop window and other show cases of Meccanoland. Not a single item in Meccanoland was obtained by donation, they are the result of buying items at auctions, toy fairs etc. Only 3 items on display in Meccanoland are on loan from private owners - these are visible on name cards and will be returned in due course to their owners.
MECCANOLAND,
Is een oude stijl speelgoed winkel in de Toy Gallery, het mooiste speelgoedmuseum in Nederland. "MECCANOLAND" is uniek in de wereld en is onderdeel van het Speelgoedmuseum "Toy Gallery" in Brummen.
Het museum is geopend op:
dinsdag t/m vrijdag* 10 - 17 uur
zaterdag 10 - 16 uur
1e zondag vd maand 11 - 16 uur
1e en 2e Kerstdag en Nieuwjaarsdag gesloten
*in schoolvakanties ook maandag open
Meccanoland is feitelijk een grote vitrine in de vorm van een winkel uit de jaren dertig.
De winkel is helemaal op maat en van antieke bouwmaterialen gemaakt, bijeengezocht op antiekmarkten en sloperijen.
Na een grondige reiniging en reparaties van het materiaal werd de winkel opgebouwd en geschilderd in de stijl van de jaren dertig.
Al het houtwerk van de winkel is gehout d.w.z. dat er een houtstructuur op geschilderd is, dit werd vroeger gedaan om goedkoop hout een duurdere uitstraling te geven.
De antieke gaslampen aan de buitenzijde zijn van elektrisch licht voorzien, de etalages worden ook verlicht door antieke lampen
